Would you like to enhance your performance data in ITRS OP5 Monitor? You should consider using InfluxDB, an open-source time-series database that comes with some powerful features.
By adding a dedicated time series database, you can gain the following advantages:
By using InfluxDB with ITRS OP5 Monitor you can gain insight into metrics that would usually only be presented within this monitoring tool. You can do this by using questions like ‘how is the capacity of boot disks looking across all the datacenters looking over 6 months?’ or ‘how much memory is being used on my Oracle servers?’ and turning these into queries. You can also use projections to see how a metric is predicted to behave in the future. Because it is also possible ingest data from other systems into this time-series database, you can correlate data from different sources. You can also build dashboards using Chronograf or Grafana, which let you present your metrics in a multitude of ways.
One of the most popular solutions to connect Nagios to InfluxDB is the open-source tool nagflux. It does this by reading the Nagios spool file folder where performance data is stored. This means that you can get performance data ingested into InfluxDB.
But what if you need some more features, such as support for custom variables, state information, and the ability to use a remote InfluxDB instance? That’s where our tool, monitor2influx comes in. It allows you to send performance data from Monitor to InfluxDB with a tool that has been specifically made for this use case and with no downtime. This means you can import all your custom variables as tags, geographical data as geopos (think Grafana world maps) and get state information as well. You’ll also get a supported platform, as we are partners with both Influx and ITRS, ensuring future operability and support.
